We are blessed to have a sound transition programme into Royal Road School which is based on whanaungatanga, togetherness, trust and respect. This is a rich experience where our 4 year old children can experience a school class environment before they start school, often seeing their friends who have already begun school.
We visit the new entrant class every Wednesday morning, and the new entrant class visit us too, so our children can stay connected with their friends, maintaining their relationships. We also attend the whole school assembly on Friday mornings, singing the National Anthem, receiving certificates, sharing celebrations and experiencing the weekly SPARK awards.
The school also invite us to participate within their whole school celebrations too, such as Book Week and Athletics Day, and when there are special visitors.
These are unique opportunities that support our children parents and whānau experiencing a smooth transition into the school environment when their time comes.
